The Night Child is a ghostly Dark Elf assassin that was intended to be a child of the Night Mother, wandering around aimlessly in her crypt. He never made it into the game, however. All he wears is a very rare beggar's shirt.
NotesEdit
- The name of his only AI package,
DBcryptWanderKids
possibly implies that there were meant to be more Night Children present in the crypt, possibly duplicates of this child. According to the lore, the Night Mother had five children, so it's possible that all five were meant to be represented in ghostly form. In the final game, the crypt still features one adult skeleton and five smaller ones. - It's possible that before the developers chose to depict this "child" as a humanoid, they wanted to have the children be monsters, as there are two types of unused creatures known as "Dark Broodling". One is a Will-o-the-Wisp, and the other a Ghost. They are internally called
NightChildGhost
andNightChildWisp
, respectively.
