The Hleryn Estate

Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Speak to Antonius Rato in Tiger's Hall about orders.
  2. Head outside towards Hleryn Estate, which is to the left of Tiger's Hall on exiting it, and go speak to Dervera Sathen about the return of the helmet.
  3. Go into Hleryn Estate and speak to Ivul Hleryn about the helmet.
  4. One of two things can happen here:
    1. If Ivul Hleryn has >= 80 Disposition, he will just give the helmet back to you when you ask about it.
    2. If Ivul Hleryn has < 80 Disposition, he will suggest that you duel Dervera Sathen for the helmet.
  5. Depending on what happened in the conversation with Ivul:
    1. Go back to Dervera with the helmet
    2. Duel Dervera.
    3. Return to Ivul Hleryn for a reward of 500 gold.
  6. Return to Antonius Rato for your reward, Antonius Rato's Old Shield.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Speaking to Antonius Rato for the last quest in his chain of quests, he tells you that Ivul Hleryn, the ruler of Hlerynhul, has acquired a Redoran Founder's Helm, which is a helmet which is now sought by house Redoran. Antonius wants you to deal with the issue. The helmet used to belong to the Waters March Redoran in the ancient past. Antonius warns that the guards look like they know how to handle themselves in a fight, so resolve the issue peacefully.

Head outside and turn left, you'll immediately see a group of Redoran guards outside of the Hleryn Estate building. Speak to Dervera Sathen in the group of 3 of them, and she'll tell you that it is her opinion that Ivul Hleryn swindled his way into acquiring this helmet, and they are waiting patiently for him to see reason and return the helmet. You will expedite this process, very much.

Continue past them into the Hleryn Estate, go upstairs and speak to Ivul Hleryn himself about the helmet using the return the Founder's Helm option.

If he has lower than 80 disposition, he will state:

Why should I? I lawfully own this Founder's Helm. Perhaps the Redoran shouldn't have lost it in the first place. It is not my responsibility to ensure their historical relics stay in their possession. I'm doing them a favor, really. They'd probably just lose it again. If you're so concerned about their presence, why don't you challenge their leader to a duel for the Founder's Helm?

However, if he has 80 Disposition or higher, he will freely give the helm back to you, for you to give to Dervera Sathen. You can then go back to Tiger Hall and turn in the quest, where Antonius Rato will reward you with Antonius Rato's Old Shield, and the quest ends there.

On asking about the duel for the Founder's Helm, Ivul will state:

I'm sure their leader would agree. Knowing House Redoran, I have no doubt they will accept the results of such a duel. Then I keep them Helm, and you'll have kept the peace. I might even be able to find an additional reward for you.

Going outside and speaking to Dervera Sathen about duel for the Founder's Helm, she asks you:

Would you stand for Ivul Hleryn of House Hlaalu and duel for the Founder's Helm? Do not take this lightly. This will be a duel to the death. Should you win, House Redoran will leave. Should you lose, then we will stand till the last. Felven Evas will be witness to our duel. Do you accept these terms?

You can select Yes or No. Selecting No negates the duel and nothing happens. Selecting Yes begins the duel.

After you kill Dervera Sathen, you can speak to Felven Evas, who will state:

Well fought. As agreed, we'll be leaving. And I'll do my best to discourage my kinsmen from trying to revist this issue -- though I can't make any guarantees.

Going back into the Estate to talk to Ivul, asking about the duel for the Founder's Helm again, he will say:

I told you those Redoran would agree to a duel for the Founder's Helm. Take this additional stipend for your efforts -- I'm sure it's more than your soldier's dues. And he gives you 500 gold.

Returning to Antonius Rato in Tiger's Hall, he will congratulate you on keeping the situation under control, and award you with Antonius Rato's Old Shield for your service in Hlerynhul.
